Agriculture & Enterprise
Eco-friendly farming, value chains and small enterprise for coastal farmers, young people and women.
COAST's technical staff help families with livestock, poultry, fish culture and homestead gardening using sustainable, non-pesticide methods and local seeds.
With PKSF, COAST runs enterprise and value-chain projects such as PACE (crab culture and dry fish), RMTP poultry, SMART and the Resilient Homestead and Livelihood (RHL) project. Under the Asia-Pacific Farmers' Program (APFP) with AFA, the FO4A project helps young farmers build stronger farmers' organisations, and COAST coordinated the IFAD-funded MTCP-2 programme for farmers' organisations in Bangladesh.
COAST's Coastal Renewable Energy Project, supported by IDCOL, installed 5,227 solar home systems in remote chars and islands.
