COAST Foundation (Coastal Association for Social Transformation) is a national, non-political, not-for-profit organisation founded in 1998 on Bhola island. It works with poor and marginalised people in the coastal districts of Bangladesh on social and climate justice, livelihoods, disaster response and the Rohingya humanitarian response.

Yes. COAST Foundation is registered with the Office of the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 (No. S-13496/2021, 3 February 2021). It is also a registered taxpayer with the National Board of Revenue. Copies of the certificates are on our Transparency page.

In 69 upazilas across seven regions (Bhola, Cox's Bazar, Noakhali, Chattogram, Barishal, Cumilla and an outreach region), covering coastal districts from Barguna and Patuakhali to Cox's Bazar, plus the Rohingya camps and Bhasan Char.

COAST is a not-for-profit organisation. Its work is funded by grants from partners such as PKSF, UNICEF, UNHCR, GIZ, IFAD, Tearfund, the Vitol Foundation and Start Fund Bangladesh, and by its own funds. It does not distribute profits: all resources go to its work with coastal communities, and its accounts are audited every year.
